X has been shut in Pakistan for nearly 72 hours. The clampdown on free speech and dissent is taking a pervasive form in order to stop Pakistanis, especially young people, from highlighting the blatant rigging and electoral illegalities that took place in GE 2024.

The current caretaker Govt is an illegal & totalitarian setup that has broken laws, violated fundamental freedoms & undertaken brutality.

The former First Lady, Bushra Bibi, is being illegally incarcerated in a dark room instead of a prison. Her access to family & lawyers is limited & there are reports that her health is detoriating. There must be provision & access to independent doctors to examine her health.

Pakistan has seen many lows in these last two years, but to punish a woman for her husband's political position & and struggle has to be one of worst. In the last two years, women have been humiliated, attacked, incarcerated, and bullied for undertaking politics & exercising fundamental rights.

All women prisoners of conscience must be released immediately.
