
ISLAMABAD: Former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf is expected to be indicted today January 1, 2014 in the high treason case for subverting the Constitution while imposing the proclamation of emergency in the country on November 3, 2007.
A three-member bench of the special court headed by Justice Faisal Arab and comprising Justice Syeda Tahira Safdar and Justice Yawar Ali will conduct hearing into the complaint lodged by the Federation for initiating high treason trial against Musharraf.
On December 24, during preliminary hearing the court in its order ruled that the complaint lodged by the Federation would be read out to the accused on January 1 and directed the registrar to ensure adequate security to the former president from his residence to the court premises.
Musharraf’s lawyer Anwar Mansoor Khan apprised the court that five kilograms explosive material along with a detonator and two pistols were found close to the route of Musharraf due to which the former president could not appear in the court.
The court had adjourned the hearing till January 1, 2014.
